The NSW Electoral Commission has been appointed to run the September election for Federation Council.
At its monthly meeting yesterday, Federation Council endorsed the Electoral Commission’s proposed list of polling places for the September election.
Most venues are the same as those used in the last elections for the former Corowa and Urana Shires. But Balldale and Boree Creek will not be used due to the very low number of voters and/or closeness to Lowesdale Public School and Corowa, the increasing number of registered postal voters and consistency with other elections.
The Australian Electoral Commission abolished the Balldale Recreation Reserve venue at the time of the 2016 Federal Government elections and it was abolished for the 2015 NSW State election.
New-to-Federation Council Boree Creek residents will not be able to vote in Lockhart or other council areas.
*Federation Council’s Local Representative Committee members will cease their roles on June 30, as agreed by members and council’s Administrator Mike Eden following their latest monthly meeting yesterday. “All are keen to see the budget adopted and all felt this was the right time,” council’s General Manager Chris Gillard told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
