Saturday morning saw the first round of the Cobram Junior Soccer Association for 2017.
With 300 kids playing in 31 teams across six divisions Apex Park was a sea of colour with the teams running around in their uniforms sponsored by Mulwala Water Ski Club.
The players were certainly encouraged to perform their best by the terrific crowd that had gathered and there was incredible vocal support.
Each week highlights will be picked out and coaches and parents are encouraged to pass on items that they think should be part of the article.
The coaches all need commendation for taking on the role and the kids really appreciate their enthusiasm and if they have knowledge that is a bonus.
This year the competition is continuing the Under 14 match.
The Cobram Junior Soccer Association is endeavouring to ensure all interested players are able to play soccer.
This means that each week at 11.30am all under 14 players present will be split into two teams and a match will be played.
Further players are still sought for this match on a weekly basis.
Yarrawonga will train on Wednesday nights which will take place at Sacred Heart College’s Multi Purpose Centre.
There will be different times for different age groups – 3.45pm U6 boys/U8 Boys, 4.20pm U10 boys and girls, 5pm U12/14 mixed; training will cost $2 per session.
There are still vacancies in the under 8 and under 10 boys teams with around four more players required in each age group.
If any children are keen to play please contact Jason Bassett on 0448 838 256.
Each week Wingates Sportz are sponsoring awards across the entire Cobram Junior Soccer Association, this is very much appreciated by everyone involved.
