‘We’ll be back to Wilby’ was the sentiment of those who attended the lively Afternoon Tea Dance held at the Wilby Hall on April 23.
Russell Leskie’s Dance Music had everyone’s toes tapping from 1pm to 5pm and a full program of Nu Vogue and Old Time dances kept everyone on the floor for most of the afternoon.
Dancers enjoyed the Cha Cha, the Tango, the Rhumba the Waltz and many other dances as they whirled around the dance floor in an impressive display.
One of the organisers Geoff Campbell said the Wilby Hall was a perfect place to hold a dance because Wilby is located midway between Benalla, Echuca, Wangaratta and many places in between.
The organising committee believe it is very sad that Moira Shire Council is considering replacing the hall with a much smaller meeting space which would not offer the room for this type of event.
The Afternoon Tea Dances are held at Wilby on the fourth Sunday of every second month.
The next one is on June 25 and will have music by J & M Hughes.
