Youngsters enjoy footy spotlight

‘I haven’t got it.’

The girls went toe to toe with the boys and enjoyed every minute.

Everyone in for the hard ball get.

Youngsters up for the ruck tap.

A full program of football greeted supporters at John Foord Oval on Sunday with five matches featuring Yarrawonga versus Corowa.

However, it was the youngest of them all, under 8 and under 10 juniors, who provided the highlight of the day during half time of the seniors match.

Bursting with enthusiasm and with an abundance of energy, the Pigeons and Roos youngsters donned their team strips with pride and gave it all for 20 minutes of football fun.

There were more than a few thrills and spills, a few wayward kicks, contested marks and one or two shots on goal.

Most enjoyable was watching these stars of the future share friendly chit chat with their opponents when they were away from the action.

While the score of the match remains a mystery, if the fun enjoyed by the spectators and the kids is anything to go by, local football was the real winner.
