Yarrawonga Squash and Racquetball Club

May 11, 2017

Brian Rae (far right) was part of a recent squash premiership team and will be sadly missed by his friends at the club.

The Yarrawonga Squash and Racquetball Club would like to pay tribute to Brian Rae, a great member of the Yarrawonga Squash Club who passed away suddenly recently.

Brian travelled from Cobram every week to play squash and enjoyed some fantastic yeas at the club.

He bought humour and passion into the club and was always very honest in his opinions. On one occasion, after a creaming his comment was, “he’s a very, very, very nice player‘’.

Brian kept improving through the years. He bought home a premiership with Andrew McPherson, Kevin Shauffer and Nathan Blick.

He also won an individual premiership and proudly bought his family over to claim his trophies. Brian will be sadly missed

Anthony Hammon’s team 2/8/215 only just defeated Jeff Russell team 2/8/205.

Jeff only just got the chocolates from Anthony this week. Their games were hard and fast. Anthony had the speed Jeffrey just got home with the better shots.

Frank Martin won in four against Xander Smith. Xander a little pocket rocket moves around the court with ease. Frank is serving like his mother. High lobs are winning him the match.

Dennis Phibbs Team 3/10/195 defeated Tim Smith’s team 1/4/165.

Cam Buckingham found his mojo after returning to the game. He was up against Fletcher Swann and had the shot’s to win in four. James Martin has decided to join his family in the great game of squash. He was determined, giving everything for a win against Nathan Blick. There will be no heckling towards him at home this week after a victory in three straight sets.

Ergun Yilidirim’s team 2/8/172 only just defeated Vicki Martin’s team 2/7/191 Ergun has returned after an injury last year. He still has great shot’s and holds the court well defeating Vicki Martin in three. Andrew McPherson and Rocky Leith had a marathon battle. A display of great shot’s from both players. Rocky won the fifth game 15/11.
