Rennie netballers are enjoying a good start to season 2017 and the Hoppers’ girls are seeking community help to fund new netball changerooms.
A Grade netball coach and committee member Paula Mifka said with more than 200 members and families in action at the Rennie ground each home game, the need for updated facilities was pressing.
“We are replacing our old ‘tired’ changerooms with an updated, new multipurpose facility,” Paula said.
“Currently the old rooms have been removed and we are training and playing with a small portable room and portable toilets.
“Out substandard rooms have created concerns for the safety and wellbeing of all our users.
“We especially recognise that children have a fundamental right to be safe whilst involved in sport or activities. This is our obligation, legal as well as moral.”
Plans for new facilities would provide toilets, showers, changerooms, storage areas and meeting facilities at the Rennie Recreational Reserve netball courts.
“We have been lucky enough to receive a grant of $50,000 from the Federation Shire, but with the costs of the new rooms of well over $100,000 we are trying to raise an additional $50,000,” Paula said.
“We are asking for donations, large or small, to help fund our project and make this dream a reality.”
Building of the new rooms is set to begin this week and the Rennie netballers have set up a GoFundMe page for online donations at www.gofundme.com/2rs38pe4
Alternatively, deposits can be made directly to the Rennie netballers fundraising account at any NAB branch: BSB 083894 Account no. 901 398 511 or cheques posted to 8 Charles Crt, Yarrawonga, VIC 3730.
All support would be greatly appreciated by the Rennie netballers as they embark on the project to build the new facilities.
