Development speaks to positive outlook

I am writing to congratulate Kaitlyn Cummins and her committee on their success in achieving funding from Federation Council of some $856,000 (part of the $10 Million dollar Corowa Shire amalgamation package) for the All Abilities playground and splash park.
Their persistence certainly has paid off and now with the funds accumulated from the past two or three years of fundraising, they can at last proceed with the project.
It is unfortunate that it is not on the foreshore in Yarrawonga, but I believe it will be a major attraction for our towns and the splash park will proceed in the future.
Moira Shire does not have a good track record of delivering major projects, especially for Yarrawonga and I feel this is an example for Moira on what can be achieved with persistence and planning.
There should be more cooperation between cross border shires especially now there is rate capping in Victoria and the financial restraints that this now puts on councils to deliver major projects.
Congratulations Federation Shire for their support for this project and seeing the priority to deliver major projects for Mulwala.
With Aquazone up and running and this project coming to fruition in the near future, there is now a definite confidence in investing in tourism based projects which can only be a positive outlook for the future development of our two towns.

Don McPhee.
