For just the second time in history, Yarrawonga Mulwala RSL Sub Branch has proved to be the best RSL Lawn Bowls team in Victoria to win this year’s Duke of Edinburgh Shield.

“I congratulate Yarrawonga Mulwala winning with a score of 188 points, the nearest side to you on 146 points,” Victorian RSL Lawn Bowls President Herb Mason said at ClubMulwala last Wednesday over a special dinner presentation in the club’s impressive Endeavour Room.

“What a fantastic effort. I congratulate each and every one of you on that fine effort.”

Mr Mason thanked the local team for its invitation to the presentation night and ClubMulwala staff “for an excellent meal”.

In his sixth year as president, Mr Mason presented the shield to Yarrawonga Mulwala team manager Barry (Bomber) Mitchell.

Bomber expressed his and the team’s gratitude in seeing Mr Mason and his fellow Victorian RSL Lawn Bowls officials, match committee’s John Cecchin and committee-man Ted Hovard, and to the partners of the team’s bowlers for helping to make the presentation dinner an enjoyable and proud night.

Earlier in the evening, all 27 people were welcomed to the presentation dinner by Yarrawonga Mulwala RSL Sub Branch President Ian Summers.

Mr Summers conveyed his delight at the 2017 result. “It’s huge for your team and huge for the RSL Sub Branch,” he said. “Well done to each and every one of you.”

The winners very much thank Stockland for their involvement and contribution regarding sponsorship.
