Sensational soccer round in Yarrawonga

by
June 07, 2017

Surrounded but still working hard, Jemima Bruce for the Chelsea Under 10 Girls.

Tom Conway in the Manchester United Under 6s.

More than 300 Cobram Junior Soccer Association’s players took part in the first round of the season held in Yarrawonga for 2017.

It was possibly the biggest crowd to watch a sporting event at Vic Park as parents, grandparents and friends came from as far as Finley to witness the occasion.

Five years ago Yarrawonga had a single team.  On Saturday there were 110 kids representing the town.

Soccer has had a rapid growth and having rounds in Yarrawonga was a reward for an amazing amount of effort parents have put in.

A large amount of work went into the organisation of the event.

To list names of individuals is always fraught with danger and for that reason a genuine thank you is extended to the entire soccer community.

The marking of the grounds, relocating of goals, catering, serving of food, refereeing, coaching and tidying up all required significant effort and for that everyone is to be congratulated.

Planning has begun for representative soccer at the end of the season.

All players should have received an email relating to this and are requested to contact Mick Wane for further details.

Training will continue this week with Cobram on Monday, Finley on Tuesday and Yarrawonga on Wednesday.

It is evident which kids have been training and all are encouraged to attend these sessions.
