Kids Festival fun for all

June 15, 2017

Peppa Pig will be just one of the drawcards sure to delight the youngsters at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Kids Festival in July.

Plans for the very first Yarrawonga Mulwala Kids Festival are in full swing with a jam-packed timetable of events for kids of all ages planned from July 1 to 9.

Forget the moans of ‘there’s nothing to do’ from the kids this winter school holidays, get out and about and enjoy a range of activities to make the most of the mid-year break.
Janelle Zampin from Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism and Business said the idea of the inaugural festival was to generate activity and excitement for locals and visitors during what was traditionally a quiet time of year.
“Obviously Yarrawonga Mulwala is a great aquatic paradise for visitors in the summer and people return year after year to enjoy the water,” she said.
“But there have always been concerns about businesses getting through the quiet times in winter so Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism and Business had been thinking for a while about what could be done to help.
“The festival will not only provide fun things for the kids to do but also provide a boost to local business by attracting visitors to town and getting families out and about.
“We have great venues in the clubs that are on board, along with a lot of other local venues and businesses so it should be great.”
Among the Yarrawonga Mulwala Kids Festival highlights are performances from favourite Peppa Pig at ClubMulwala on July 5, followed by the fun of Splash Dance Concert on July 7.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort will host Cars 3 themed days with special screenings of the just released movie, along with fun activities and a jumping castle.
There will be an animal nursery and activity tent at Rich Glen Olive Estate, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Belle¬ís Café, damper making and a trivia hunt at Byramine Homestead and cupcake and cookie decorating at Bundalong Café.
For some sporting fun, there will be a visit from Melbourne Vixens netballers on July 4, Skillzone Soccer Clinics, free golf for the kids at YMGCR and Black Bull, AFL skills at JC Lowe Oval on July 4 and Bluearth activities for health and well-being.
Those are just some of the activities, many are free but some do come with a cost and require bookings. For more information check out the Yarrawonga Mulwala Kids Festival Facebook page, visit the website www.lakemulwalakids.com.au  or call the Visitor Information Centre on 1800 062 260.
Janelle said as final preparations are made, the team from Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism and Business was looking forward to hosting a great Kids Festival.
“Fingers crossed we have some beautiful winter sunshine and everyone makes and effort to get out and enjoy it,” she said.
“We are hoping this festival will be a great winter event for Yarrawonga Mulwala for years to come.”
