Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort Trainees Frazer Droop and Jamie Stapleton.

Yarrawonga Golf Club Resort Trainee Professional Frazer Droop has just fallen short of another win in the prestigious Tony Hollands Funerals QLD PGA Trainee Championships.

After holding a slender lead at the half way mark, Droop battled it out in the third round to finish in equal first place.
It was always going to be a huge battle to come out on top of last year’s winner, Robbie Hogan but Droop has been in fantastic form all year and a win was a real possibility.
Droop’s final round is one that will be remembered for some time. A mistake which cost him a disappointing 3 shot penalty and back-t-back bogeys put him seemingly out of contention but a birdie blitz over the final holes saw him fight back to finally fall short by just one shot.
Although the second place was an excellent result it could have been so much sweeter and without the resultant penalty he would have taken the first-place cheque.
However, a very philosophical Droop said he would learn a lot from the mistakes and take a lot of positives out of his fantastic fightback.
Another fantastic result for the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort was first year trainee Jamie Stapleton who made another cut in the same tournament.
Jamie has improved out of sight and has now made the cut in his last three tournaments as well as taking out the Trainee Championship in Shepparton.
All goes well for both these lads as they look to forge a career in golf and with Evan Droop looking over their shoulder, both boys have a fantastic opportunity to achieve their dreams.
