A driver was found to be almost four times over the legal blood alcohol limit after being stopped by police in Mulwala on June 11.
Police reported around 12.05am on Sunday, June 11, a vehicle was seen by police driving on the wrong side of the road along Melbourne Street, Mulwala.
The male driver, a 31-year old from Richmond, was stopped by police and submitted to a breath test which proved positive.
He was arrested and taken to Mulwala Police Station where a further test returned a reading of 0.193, categorised as a high range drink driving offence.
Police said at the time of the offence the male had three other intoxicated males in his car and he was clearly well affected by alcohol.
Police enquiries revealed the male had attended the Winery Walkabout earlier in the day and continued to drink alcohol upon returning to Mulwala. His license was suspended in New South Wales.
“It amazes me with most accommodation within walking distance coupled with courtesy buses and taxis in town that anyone can think of driving a car in such an intoxicate state,” said Mulwala Police Sgt Grant Churchin.
