Chefs in state cook off

Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort chef Rory Burling and apprentice Russel Styles will produce five dishes over six hours at Ryde TAFE in Sydney on June 27.

They have advanced to the next stage of the 2017 ClubsNSW Chef’s Table competition and will be against 54 other competitors from 27 clubs throughout the state.

Rory was pleased their nomination, a written submission, was accepted. “We’re looking forward to it,” he told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.

“It’s the first time the club’s competed so it will be good to get out there, have us against bigger clubs and put us on the map.”

Rory successfully completed his apprenticeship at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort in 2009 and has been back at the club, as chef, for the past four years.

is in his third year of his apprenticeship and has been at the club for six months.

“It’s a huge achievement for Rory and Russel, and the club,” Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort CEO Richard Hogg said of the pair’s selection in the chef cook-off in Sydney.

A statement from ClubsNSW read: “This annual competition has attracted entries from many talented chefs, cooks and apprentices within registered club from around NSW ready to battle it out in the ultimate chef cook-off. All entries were of a high calibre.” Winners will be announced on July 24.
