Lachlan Conway and Lachlan Burrows enjoyed holding the Peace Torch.

Peace Runners Stacey Marsh and Garerdene.

The Sri Chimnoy Peace Runner gave a presentation to pupils at Sacred Heart Primary School.

Mother Teresa once said “peace begins with a smile” and looking at the smiles on the Sri Chimnoy Peace runners this sentiment rings true.

The runners made their way to Yarrawonga last Friday and stopped by Sacred Heart Primary School for a chat and a well earned rest.

The Peace Run is a global torch relay uniting thousands of communities and millions of people in more than 100 countries.

In Australia a team of runners from 13 nations are carrying the torch more than 3,500km from Brisbane to Adelaide; the Peace Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, but simply strives to spread goodwill among people of all nations.

World leaders including Pope Francis, Nelson Mandela and Mikhail Gorbachev have all been involved in the Peace Run and at the inaugural Australian Peace Run in 1987 then PM Bob Hawke and Opposition Leader John Howard joined together for a bipartisan pursuit.

The Peace Run team made their way through Wodonga last Thursday then arrived in Yarrawonga and Sacred Heart Primary on Friday before heading to Shepparton.
