The Central Murray Credit Union has presented Julie McBurnie with the Most Deserving Actor/Actress Award for her stand out performance in Allegro Theatre Company’s last production Keeping Mum.

Theatre Company spokesperson, Barb Macdermid, said the company sincerely appreciated the generous contribution and support given by the CMCU in providing this award which is presented to the most deserving actor/actress judged by the Allegro Committee after each show.

“The 2016 Allegro Talent Award winner for the show Keeping Mum was Julie McBurnie for her portrayal of Jane,” Barb said.

has been involved with Allegro Theatre Company for many years, behind the scenes, in her co-directing and in her diverse roles on the stage.

“Julie was thrilled and most humbled in receiving a cheque and the award for the last show.”

According to Barb rehearsals are well under way as Allegro Theatre Company prepares for its first show of 2017, the children’s favourite Stuart Little, to be staged in June.

“All the charm, wisdom and joy of the EB White’s original film is captured in this endearing stage adaptation,” Barb said.

“A most unusual mouse who happens to be born into an ordinary New York family, Stuart struggles to survive in his super-sized world of humans.

“There are many new young faces in this production and it will be a treat to watch for young and old alike.”
