A large group of very eager scouts, cubs and venturers from various troupes belonging to the Goulburn Murray District Scouts came together to camp for the weekend on May 27 and 28 at Wilby Recreation Reserve.
They were accompanied by their leaders who made sure they got the most out of their experience.
Leaders are aware that the outdoors provides a great opportunity outside the scout hall to appreciate the environment and develop a sense of achievement as well as social skills and to have a taste of adventure.
The program was quite full with all the cubs making the most of the great weather to work towards gaining their interest badges.
To help with the Fire Safety Badge the Wilby CFA tanker and a couple of volunteers visited the reserve and cubs were able to see how the truck works and learn what to do in the event of fire at home and in the bush.
Although there was heavy rain on Saturday evening, most kept warm and dry in their tents.
Everyone agreed that the camp was an outstanding success and all are looking forward to doing it again next year.
