Yarrawonga Bowls Club
The Gladstone Park bowlers visit on Saturday went off well and the club would like to thank all the ladies who cooked those great casseroles for the day they went down a treat and were greatly appreciated by all.
A big Happy Birthday to Ron Peacock.
Last Friday night’s members draw did not go off so it has jackpotted to $120 on Friday, July 7.
The results for the games played this week are;
Monday, June 26 Nominated Pairs 2-4-2 winners were Ron Makin and Peter Velardo, the runners-up were Ron Peacock and Daryl Dighton.

It has been another mixed week of bowls for the club with Tuesday Social played in very very cold weather, unfortunately Sunday 2-4-2 was called off due to not enough players.
Mid-week Social results:
Tuesday, June 27 was the coldest day some people have ever played bowls in, a small hardy number of bowlers proved you do not have to be mad but sometimes it helps.
Winners on the day were Jan Morton and Barry Pitt; the jackpot did not go off.
Remember Social Bowls for the winter – Midweek 12.30pm on Tuesday (names in by 11am on the day); Sunday 2-4-2 at 12.30pm (names in by 11am on the day).

YMGCR Bowls
On a beautiful winter’s day 20 bowlers gathered for Wednesday pairs.
The green was at its brilliant best and the winners were Peter Velardo and Betty Richmond with a score of two wins plus 9.
Runners-up with a score of two wins and plus four were P Lidgerwood and John Snowden. The jackpot failed to go off again.
Friday the club had 24 bowlers playing 2x4x2 day with the green running a beautiful 15 seconds, well done Warrick.
Winners were Peter Lidgerwood and the ever reliable Doug McTeir. Doug turned the clock back with his magnificent play, whether it was an up shot or a draw it didn’t matter.
Runners up were Bob Tett and a visitor from Healesville, Gerbar Otto. Gerbar must have bowled well.
Once again the jackpot failed to go off, so remember you have to play to have a chance, so put your name down and have a fun day.
The club has been informed that our own Anne Miles is currently ranked numbered eleven in the latest Australian rankings, also Claire Sanders is ranked sixteenth and Laureen Smith is ranked twenty-sixth, not bad for this little country club.
It’s a credit to these girls who put in so much time to their practice and preparation, well done.
