Yarrawonga Gala Ball and Dance Weekend

More than 400 dancers took to the dancefloor at the Yarrawonga Shire Hall for the 18th Gala Ball and Dance Weekend recently.

Held from July 14 to 16 the event attracted dancers from near and far to trip the light fantastic.
Event organisers were pleased to have Moira Shire Councillor Peter Mansfield and his wife Mary attend the Gala Ball on the Saturday night and welcomed dancers from Canberra, Sydney, Geelong, Warrnambool and Merimbula.
A range of Modern, Old Time and New Vogue plus a small dash of Latin dancing was enjoyed by all.
Excellent music was played by Ian Stewart on Friday and Saturday nights with Lindsay Hutchins as MC accompanying by sometimes singing, which delighted the crowd.
The new President of Lions Doug Rankin very capably carried out the MC Duties on Friday night.
On Sunday the excellent music continued, with Max Gray’s music collection, ably assisted by his wife, Margaret, running the dance.
The Yarrawonga Lioness Club made good use of the kitchen in the Community Hall preparing excellent food and having it all set out ready for the hungry dancers for their supper and lunch breaks.
Many people contributed to the smooth running of the weekend, working tirelessly to ensure its success.
Thanks go to; the Lions Club, Yarrawonga and in particular Denis Griffiths and Joan Tufvesson who helped co-ordinate the event, Dawn and Geoff Campbell for their assistance with the running of the event, Jean Norris, Denise Vinecombe and Gwenda Doolan for their assistance with selling tickets, Gary from Filterworld for providing the refreshing cold water over the weekend and George Burdan for providing the plants for the stage.
