The 2017 Victorian Golf Industry Awards were held recently at the prestigious Huntingdale Golf Course and attended by the who’s who of the golfing world.
It was with great excitement for everyone involved from Yarrawonga and Melbourne that Black Bull Golf Course and Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort, as event co-hosts, were named winners of the 2016 Victorian PGA Legends Pro Am of the Year and winners of the 2017 Victorian PGA Legends Pro Am of the Year for the BMW Senior Victorian Open.
The award-winning event held in February 2016 and 2017 has achieved great success and become a drawcard for both Black Bull Golf Course and YMGCR.
This year’s event featured a stellar line-up of Australian professional participants including Peter Senior, Rodger Davis, Mike Hardwood, Terry Price and Peter O’Malley to name just a few.
Silverwoods Ambassador Bill Brownless and Sam Newman were both in attendance for the 2017 event, playing side-by-side with the professionals.
The event has made its mark, not only on golfing community, but also on the towns of Yarrawonga and Mulwala, attracting people from near and far not for just a game of golf but a true first-class event on the golfing calendar.
Both the YMGCR and Black Bull courses and surrounds provide a magnificent backdrop for the Shepparton BMW Senior Victorian Open and the perfect stage for golfing greats to do what they do best – play incredible golf.
“Working alongside our golf club professionals James McCully and Evan Droop to bring this event to Yarrawonga Mulwala is a fabulous asset to our local community and to win back to back will ensure the players and sponsors will return to what we expect to be a bigger and better event in 2018,” said YMGCR CEO Richard Hogg.
The event is now in the running for the Australian Pro Am of the Year award to be announced in 2018.
All this would not be possible without the support of all sponsors but in particular the major sponsor of the event Shepparton BMW managed by Principal Aaron Brain and his team.
The 2017 Victorian Golf Industry Awards were enjoyed by all as the close knit golfing community came together to celebrate those who were nominated for awards and those who were successful.
Master of Ceremonies at the August 18 event was Michael Roberts and the special guest speaker and presenter was Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews who was delighted to be there as a strong supporter and passionate lover of golf.
There were a number of awards on offer during the evening including 2016 Victorian Metropolitan Pro-Am of the Year, 2016/2017 Bruce Green – Victorian PGA Club Professional of the Year, Coach of the Year, Teaching Professional and Manager of the Year.
2017 inductees to the Victorian Golf Industry Hall of Fame were Sam Berriman, Claude Crockford, Jack Dillon, David Inglis, Harold Knights, WH (Bill) Richardson, Vi Teesdale and Rosemary Wakeham. Congratulations to all inductees and their family and friends.
Finally, congratulations to Black Bull Golf Course and Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort for their achievement and award win.
