Tungamah 41 defeated Shep East 21
Fantastic effort by the girls on Saturday given the weather conditions were the worst they had to face all year.
True to form but also nervous the girls took a few minutes to settle, but they then were able to maintain control, focus and get on with the game.
Tungamah had the first centre pass and the ball went straight to the goal circle where it went in. Tungamah kept driving forward, with the ball finding its intended mark, through each third down to the goal end.
Not many mistakes were made and this showed on the scoreboard.
Grace Whitelock, captain (GK), held Shep East back as they tried to goal.  The pressure she applied and rebounds taken kept their score to a minimum.
Sarah Cummins (GS) moved around the ring, using her height where needed and just kept goaling.  The wind didn’t let up, yet it didn’t stop her goals going in.
Ella Jones (GD) sprang from nowhere, taking flying leaps to intercept the ball and causing turnovers with her attacking at the ball.
Olivia Giggins (GA) never stopped.  She tired her opponent out by darting back and forward in her third.  Her goals were met with strong gusts of wind, but they went in.
Chloe Charnstrom (WD) worked hard all game.  She had some great intercepts, stuck to her opponent and applied the pressure.
Ella Costigan (WA) was quick and her strong passes kept the ball moving down to the goal end.  Her opponent struggled to keep up with her.
Emma Walker (C), vice-captain, used the centre passes to her advantage.  She confused her opponents with smart passing and was always in the play with her moving around the court.  Chantalle Dingemans (WD), came on late in the fourth quarter, and caused 4 turnovers in a matter of minutes.
Penny Thomson and Ruby Wallden, although they didn’t take to court, were ready to go and cheered loudly.
A big thank you also to team mates unable to be at the game Ella Evans and Erica Montgomery.
This was a fantastic achievement by all these young women.
Undefeated all year, and then with a week’s break behind them, they showed everyone why they deserved to be champions.
Well done also to Ella Jones for winning best on ground.
To coaches Deb Hayes and Sarah Jones (and Molly Saunders for your advice and knowledge during the finals campaign) the best result that could be achieved was achieved - thank you.
You both have worked hard all year with the girls and it paid off.
Thank you so much from the girls and their parents.  Bring on next year.
