The Yarrawonga Chronicle’s Noel Loughnan OAM will officially open this year’s show.

ClubMulwala’s Yarrawonga-Mulwala Agricultural Show will be officially opened by Yarrawonga businessman Mr Noel Loughnan OAM on Saturday, October 7.

Mr Loughnan will open the show around midday as the longest serving Yarrawonga Chronicle employee with his career as a journalist, proprietor, Managing Editor/Director, printer and publisher spanning 67 years plus.
Mr Loughnan handed over the business to his sons Aaron and Jared in 2011 but continues to be active in the business and is chairman of the Board of Directors of Yarrawonga Chronicle and Corowa Free Press.
Mr Loughnan said he was honoured to be asked to open Yarrawonga-Mulwala’s biggest and most prestigious event of the year, the 134th Annual ClubMulwala Agricultural Show.
“Yarrawonga and Border Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Yarrawonga Chronicle have a lot in common; the first Yarrawonga show was held on Thursday September 6, 1883 and the first edition of the Chronicle was published in the same year – Friday June 22, 1883,” Mr Loughnan said.
“I had the pleasure of personally reporting the local show for the Chronicle spanning some 40 years.
“The Show Society and the Chronicle have had a close and happy relationship over the past 134 years and I am sure this spirit of togetherness will continue well into the future.”
Mr Loughnan said Yarrawonga had a history of conducting great shows, its reputation for such being known far and wide.
“The Show Society’s boast that the Yarrawonga Mulwala Show rivals the Royal Melbourne Show for quality entertainers and exhibits is well justified,” he said.
“The strength of the show is evident with the event only being cancelled twice in its 134 years history due to wartime and extreme weather.
“I commend the show to everyone, bring the family along and enjoy the festivities of the ClubMulwala Yarrawonga Mulwala Agricultural Show, October 7 at the Yarrawonga Showgrounds.
“The dedicated show committee has organised a jam packed schedule of events especially focusing on family and youth from 9am to 9pm. The 134th Club Mulwala Yarrawonga Mulwala Show promises to be something special, don’t miss it.”
