When Megan and Cameron Wood found out about Yarrawonga Health’s fundraising arm, Helping Hands, being involved in the Yarrawonga Mulwala Multisport Corporate Challenge, they immediately committed to being ambassadors.
“Every person and family in this community at some stage will need to call on the various services of Yarrawonga Health and this is a perfect way as an individual to give something back,” Megan a personal trainer and running coach said.
“It also helps promote a healthy lifestyle message,” she added.
The Helping Hands Corporate Challenge is aimed at engaging businesses, community organisations and groups to participate in a joint fundraising effort for the health service while at the same time offering the ability to promote their businesses and healthy lifestyles.
Last year, the crew from Terry White Pharmacy embraced the Challenge with 20 staff members taking part wearing a team shirt. This year Cameron is planning on taking it a step further, by wearing his full White Pharmacist Work Uniform for the entire 10k run, and challenges other businesses to perhaps run in their workwear for a bit of fun and to make their workplace stand out!
Helping Hands was launched last year to assist Yarrawonga Health in engaging with the local community to enhance community support for much needed replacement equipment and furnishings which are required to provide the highest quality health services for Yarrawonga/Mulwala and the surrounding communities.
Megan and Cameron have put together a few sample training sessions and race day tips for those wanting to take on the challenge for the first time. This can be found on their website: www.meganwoodpt.com.au. Megan also encourages first time runners to join afree run group 6am Monday mornings, meeting at the Rotunda on the Yarrawonga Foreshore.
