The Under 14 Rams kicked off their 2017/18 campaign across the river at a pristine Lonsdale Reserve against Rovers Bruck United.
The Rams won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Hudson Gillies and Josh McCabe bowled tight areas restricting the runs before Hugh Mullins ripped through the Rovers Bruck middle order claiming figures of 3 for 9 off 3 overs.
Ethan Byrne and Will Turnell bowled tight areas and Sam Hemphill and Marcus vanMaanen were both rewarded with wickets.
Darcy Hicks took the keeping gloves and was outstanding.
The highlight of the innings however was Rudi Vodusek’s catch followed with an outstanding celebration.
After a magnificent morning tea served by the parents, Hugh Mullins and Darcy Hicks would open the batting, the pair blunted the opening bowlers with Hicks managing a solid 8 runs turning over the strike and dispatching the bad ball.
Hudson Gillies and Jobe Kennedy met together at the 8th over and set on getting the required 76 runs.
The pair took the game into their own hands tearing apart the opposition bowlers and running hard between the wickets, the pair guided the rams to a win and both retiring not out with 25 and 20 runs respectively.
At the end of the 21 overs the rams managed 81 runs.
