The youngest Lakers arrived in Milawa on Saturday with five debutants out of nine ready to start their cricket careers against Greta.
Tom Lovell lost the toss and the Lakers were asked to field.
All the boys bowled extremely well, restricting Greta to 72 runs and taking five wickets along the way.
Wickets were shared around with Tom Lovell taking 2, Tom Coffey, Riley Mitchell and Jesse McDonald all taking 1.
It was great to see the sportsmanship shown by Levi Saunders after bowling an over that could have seen him take 2 wickets.
After Greta treated the Lakers to morning tea it was their turn to bat.
After an early wicket things settled down and runs started to flow.
The boys managed to pass Greta’s total losing only 5 wickets along the way to finish the innings with 99.
The Lakers had four batsman who managed to navigate their allotted 20 balls and finish not out, starting with Lachlan Phillips who made 33, Tom Lovell with 20, Beau Birks 9 and first game play Levi Saunders who managed 8.
It was great to see all the parents willing to help out and make the first game run as smooth as it could, especially to those who did the scoring - thanks for your help.
