Under 14 Rams in good position

by
October 26, 2017

On another perfect day for cricket the Under 14 Rams lost the toss and were bowling first at Lonsdale Reserve in Mulwala.

Will Connell and Hudson Gilles opened the bowling, keeping tight lines, but the opening batsmen seemed settled.
This was until Jobe Kennedy was introduced early and struck with the help of another Rudi Vodusek catch which sparked the boys into action seeing Kennedy claim another wicket the following ball.
Hugh Mullins, Ethan Byrne and Sam Hemphill all kept the pressure on the opposition and Darcy Hicks showed his worth with the ball.
After the 21 over morning tea break, Zac Fraser came on and claimed 4 wickets along with Marcus VanMaaen getting a scalp.
Will Turnell and Rudi Vodusek gave the batsmen no loose balls and closed out the innings restricting City Colts to 117.
The Rams will have to bat in partnerships to chase down the total.

First win for young Bulls

In perfect conditions at Vic Park on Saturday, the Under 12 Bulls took on Benalla Bushrangers Red.

The Bulls lost the toss and after being asked to bat, took the crease.
After losing an early wicket the batters consolidated to post a very competitive 69 runs.
The pick of the bats were Cohen Cuskelly retired 20 and Ben Kennedy retired 21.
Maya Hargreaves, Pacey Haebich, Darby Mullins, Bodhi Leonard and Ollie Connell all retired not out, a great effort by all.
The Bulls turn with the ball saw five bowlers taking wickets with Cohen Cuskelly taking 2 in a best on ground performance.
Ollie Connell also taking 2, with 1 wicket each to Pacey Haebich, Tahlia Thomson and Darby Mullins.
Lucas Eales had a superb opening spell of 0/8 off 2 overs, followed by Ollie Cope with 0/8 off 2 overs.
The fielding was great with Bodhi Leonard taking a lovely catch and Ben Kennedy running the last batter out.
The end result being YMCC under 12 Bulls 2/69 defeating Benalla Bushrangers Red 8/63.
A great first win to a hard-working and dedicated group.
Well done and special thanks to Patrick Eales for his computer skills which saw the scores go directly onto the Live My Cricket App which made the morning run smoothly. Go Bulls.

Lakers fall just short

The Under 12 Lakers had an earlier than normal start to the day as they made the trek to the picturesque Wandiligong Oval.

The toss didn’t go their way and the Lakers were invited to bat on a dewy oval, which made scoring runs slow.
The Lakers managed to make a competitive 79 runs from 20 overs with the loss of only 2 wickets.
Six batsman faced their allotted 20 balls with Jobe Fraser making a classy 23no and Caleb Tanner 6no - both playing their first games for the season.
The Lakers then took to the field and bowled well. Beau Birks took a wicket on the second ball to have Bright in early trouble.
A brilliant run out by Jesse Brogan and a classic catch from Tom Coffey weren’t enough to restrict the home side from passing the Lakers total however with 2 overs to go.
Bright closed their innings at 5 for 88.
Wicket takers were Beau Birks, Levi Saunders, Jesse Brogan and Daniel O’Brien.
This week’s Foodworks award went to Xavier Martin who bowled 3 very tight overs, which included 2 maidens.
