Solid win for Under 12 Bulls

by
November 08, 2017

Oliver Cope gets gloves to the ball.

After a wash out last week, Vic Park oval no.2 looked picture perfect on Saturday ready for the Under 12 Bulls.

Captain for this week, Lucas Eales chose to bowl which sent Beechworth Wanderers to the crease.
As they do every week the young squad were happy to take a turn on the sidelines so every team member had an opportunity to be part of the game.
Bowling well in a great team performance, Ben Kennedy and Cohen Cuskelly took 2 wickets and Ollie Connell and Pacey Haebich a wicket each.
Bodhi Leonard and Ollie Cope took turns to do a superb wicket keeping job.
Maya Hargreaves taking the only catch.
A wonderful bowling and fielding effort all round.
Taking to the crease the Bulls put on a batting master class with several players retiring not out.
Cuskelly 8, Kennedy 22, Mullins 21, Leonard 20, Connell 5, and Eales 10.
Darby Mullins, Bodhi Leonard and Lucas Eales enjoyed their first retired not out innings.
It was great to see players getting rewarded for their dedicated training with many players achieving personal bests.
Tahlia Thomson was dealt one of the unluckiest cricketing fates, run out without facing a ball. Her luck will surely change next week.
The game ended with the Yarrawonga Bulls victors 3/124 vs Beechworth Wanderers 6/90.
Awards: Darby Mullins - McDonald’s. Ben Kennedy - Foodworks Mulwala.
Games 1 and 2 awards were also presented to Ollie Cope - Yarrawonga Video Land, Cohen
Cuskelly - Yarrawonga Ice Creamery.

Geoffrey Montgomery and Jackson Purtell opened and got off to a good start before Geoffrey Montgomery was bowled.
Two balls later the Benalla opening bowler also bowled Jackson Purtell and things looked a little shaky.
This brought Lachlan Phillips and Jack Costigan to the crease and they didn’t let the boys down dispatching the bowlers to all parts of the ground.
Phillips was damaging smashing eight fours in his 40.
Costigan carved out a well-made 28no.
Xavier Mitchell and Cam Ford both retired making 15 and 4 respectively and bringing the total to 118.
The boys came out confident after their flawless batting display and in the first over Geoffrey Montgomery produced an outstanding piece of fielding to run out the Benalla opener with a direct hit.
All the boys bowled with discipline with only five wides being bowled, compared to 23 the last round.
Xavier Mitchell and Lachlan Phillips both took one wicket with the Benalla boys batting very well.
In the end the Rams boys proved too good winning 118 to 53.
