ClubMulwala Outdoor Bowls
Another great week for bowls.
Mid-week saw ClubMulwala’s Division 2 hosted Wodonga, where they continued their strong form winning two rinks but unfortunately going down on the day.
Division 4 hosted Corowa Civic, and once again performed extremely well as a team, winning 2 rinks and drawing the third. They secured their first win of the season, great to see experienced and new bowlers blending together so well.
Great to see one of the club’s new bowlers, Rhonda Livingstone, had a very good tournament in the Ovens & Murray Ladies Novis Singles coming in second - well done Rhonda.
Saturday saw the club host near neighbours YMGCR, what a great tussle it was all day.
Some great bowls played by both teams, unfortunately for ClubMulwala, YMGCR was in front when it counted.
Practice is now up and running each Thursday from 3.30pm onwards. For those members who work practice will still be going well after 5pm, so don’t miss out.
There will be a coach available to answer any questions or assist all in improving their skills.
The days and time for social games are likely to change as members begin club events, make sure you check the notice board regularly.

YMGCR Bowls Club
It has been a busy week at the YMGCR bowling greens, the major event being the finals of the Ladies and Men’s Club championships.
The finals were hotly contested, with Laureen Smith victorious over Caroline Reilly in the ladies final 25-5 and in the men’s Garry Sanders was the winner over Les Spencer 25-17.
In the Ovens & Murray Novice Championship Lyn McGough won this event in a very exciting final. Well done Lyn who is completing in her first full season of bowls and if she continues with such improvement will soon be challenging to be the highest profile bowler in the family.
In round four of pennant the results were varied.  In A1 YMGCR’s top team was well beaten by Benalla going down 67-111. Looks like the selectors will have a bit of work to do this week.
In A3 the YMGCR team bounced back from last week’s defeat with a resounding 52 shot win over Myrtleford 128-76 and remain on top of the ladder.
In A4, the crosstown rivalry continued with the YMGCR team winning narrowly on the last few ends due to some great bowling by veteran Tony Durkin, beating Club Mulwala 89-86.
The club’s B3 and B4 teams both travelled to Wangaratta with the B3s having a solid victory 74 – 64 and the B4s losing 67-94.  A big thank-you to Bob Liddell for driving the bus.
The Social Bowls winners for this week were; Midweek Men’s Pairs Garry Hart, Danny McNeill and Evan James.  Ladies Thursday social Mary Essex and Barb Verbunt.  Friday Open 2-4-2 Garry Presnell and Bill Butterworth.
