On Friday night the youngest Yarrawonga Mulwala Cricket Club teams, the under 12 Lakers and Rams, faced off on Stan Hargreaves Oval.

Lakers
It started well for the Lakers, winning the toss and bowling.
All players bowled well and tried hard to restrict the big hitting Rams.
A big innings by Rams’ number three batsman Lachlan Phillips made this task even more difficult.
They didn’t surrender and continued to put pressure on the batsman with no luck, in the end the Rams compiled 139.
Without the great efforts of wicket keepers Jobe Fraser and Jesse McDonald this score could have been a lot higher.
The Lakers opened their innings with Caleb Tanner and Jesse Brogan with Jesse despatching anything short to the boundary in his innings of 19.
With the dismissal of both openers brought Jobe Fraser and Beau Birks to the crease and both batted with composure to protect their wicket and also make the most of any loose deliveries.
Both Jobe and Beau retired after their 20 balls, but due to the high run chase to remaining batsman lost their wickets early trying to get quick runs.
This brought back Jobe and Beau with Beau being bowled for a well complied 18 and Jobe not out for 26.
At the end of the Lakers’ innings they had managed to put up a score of 80 which would be a very competitive score most weeks.
The Lakers look forward to taking on Rutherglen United Red at Vic Park this Saturday.
Award winners: Levi Saunders who continues to bowl an excellent line and length and Beau Birks for well constructed innings taking minimal risks.

Rams
After losing the toss and being sent in the Rams boys were on the ball with TJ Docking and Cam Ford opening and getting off to a good start, with both retiring scoring 11 and 9.
This then bought Lachlan Phillips and Geoffery Montgomery to the crease who kept the scoreboard ticking along with Phillips making a superb 50no and Montgomery 8no.
Van Kreeck and Jackson Purtell were next in and didn’t let the boys down with Kreeck scoring 23no and Purtell 11no.
This then bought the last pair to the crease with Nate Kreeck scoring 6no and Xavier Mitchell 4 no with the boys posting an impressive 0/139.
After the break the Rams boys came out to bowl with Xavier Mitchell opening and keeping the runs down.
Lachlan Phillips and TJ Docking were next to bowl both picking up 2 wickets each.
Jack Costigan and Nate Kreeck then came on to bowl both picking up a wicket each.
This then saw the last two bowlers, Jackson Purtell and Van Kreeck both getting a wicket each in their last overs and restricting the Lakers boys to 80 runs.
Awards: Food works- TJ Docking, McDonalds- Van Kreeck.
