With a slight hiccup due to the one week delay with the COVID lockdown, it was great to be able to finish the season with some exciting finals games.
The highlights were the Under 10 Boys grand final with a one-point win to coach Mark “Wally” Wallace’s team, the Heat. It was a hard-fought contest with the Heat just getting over the Celtics in the dying minutes.
Scorers: Heat-Riley Wallace 9, Ryder Leith 6, Ben Ferguson 2 and Lachlan Brown 2. Celtics- Finnin George 8, Elliot Tresize 4, Darby Bigger 2, Roley Brear 2, Zeke Small 1.
The A Grade Boys game was also a close one with the older boys showcasing some sensational basketball skills. In the end it was coach Luke Brennan’s Lakers who outplayed coach Kristy Saunder’s Wildcats by just 3 points.
Scorers: Lakers-Lochie Harvey 18, Jye Brennan 4, Nate Williams 3, Declan Martin 2, Damien Walker 2, Jaxon Potter 1. Wildcats- Hunter Frauenfelder 19, Marcus vanMaanen 6, Xavier Mitchell 1.
Congratulations to all players on a fantastic season and thank you to all parents and guardians who were great in following the COVID requirements and respecting the limit on spectator numbers. The next season will start in early August and registrations will be open online in the next two weeks.
