Cameron and Megan Wood have created a new recreational running group called SunRunners.

Cameron and Megan Wood have created a brand new recreational running group for men, women and juniors of Yarrawonga and surrounds called SunRunners.

The group will be under the Athletics Victoria affiliated Recreational Running Group banner, bringing with it benefits from Athletics Victoria.
SunRunners aim is to share their love and passion for running with the Yarrawonga/Mulwala community by providing a supportive, encouraging and fun environment for runners of all ages and abilities.
They will provide their expertise as Athletics Australia Accredited Level 2 Recreational Running Coaches as well as experienced runners, both having completed races up to the marathon distance and beyond.
Cameron said he and Megan wish to create a cohesive running squad where everyone is welcome and feels a sense of belonging.
“We want to provide a social environment where people can get together and run, but as coaches we also want to help people train for specific events, from 5km right through to the marathon,” Cameron said.  
“We cater for beginners to the experienced.
“We’re here for those who want regular sessions to improve fitness and especially for those who are training for specific events.
“We would love to help runners challenge themselves and set goals such as running their very first half-marathon.
“One session per week will be free with everyone welcome to meet up and join in.
“Other coached sessions can be attended casually for a small fee or for those training for specific events. “Megan is also providing her PT expertise where a weekly membership will allow people keen to train harder to come to unlimited sessions.
“Guided trail runs, guest coaches and speakers, charity runs and travel to events together over the year will also be provided,” Cameron said.   
Megan said she believes recreational running has so many benefits for both the mind and soul as well as physical health.
“Not only physically but mentally and socially it is such a great activity to be part of,” she said.
“You just need a decent pair of shoes, meet up with some friends and off you go.”
Starting Monday, February 5 Cameron and Megan aim to provide up to five training sessions per week, year-round with both morning and evening sessions on offer.
Sessions range from social runs or walks from three to eight kms, to quality interval sessions to help improve speed and stamina.   
“Our first week of sessions will be completely free,” said Megan
“We want people to grab a friend and come along to see what we have to offer.
“And we have decided to keep our Wednesday evening run (meeting at the skate park) as a free community run session for the whole year to encourage people to come along and have a go.”
A social trail run along the Murray River is planned for 7am on Australia Day.
