Wilby plans to stay fire safe

January 31, 2018

To help residents of Wilby and district to plan and prepare in the event of a fire threatening the Wilby area a Fire Safety Session is to be held on Sunday, February 11 at the Wilby Fire Station.
At 9:30am a free BBQ brekkie will be provided followed by a one hour Fire Ready meeting which will be conducted by CFA Community Education Representatives.
It will be a good opportunity to learn the basics of putting in place a fire plan to follow in the event of fire and preparing homes and properties in advance.
Coming together as a community means people can work with neighbours to reduce everyone’s fire risk.
People need to take responsibility for their own safety because in an emergency it is not always possible for the fire truck to assist everyone.
Information will also be available about how and where bush, grass or scrub fires are likely to start and spread around the Wilby area.
All residents are urged to attend. There is never a guarantee it won’t happen to you.  If you prepare and nothing ever happens then you’ve lost nothing.
