Missing Person Squad detectives have charged a man with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body near Mulwala late yesterday, Tuesday, March 13.
The 57-year-old Melton woman’s body was located at 4pm, approximately 7km west of Mulwala along the Tocumwal-Barooga Rd near the entrance of the Murray Valley Regional Park which leads to Hinches Beach Campground.
Mulwala Police Sergeant Grant Churchin said the woman’s body has been lying near the entrance of the regional park for several days.
“Vic Homicide made contact with Albury detectives who then contacted Mulwala Police after they were told where the body was located,” Sergeant Churchin said.
It is believed the woman had been listed as being missing last week.
The 57-year-old Rockbank man has been charged with murder and remanded in custody.
He appeared at the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, March 15.
