Lakers through to grand final

Wicket keeper Reid Clarke had a dream day behind the stumps taking four catches, a stumping and a run out for six dismissals.

Corey McIntosh bowled tight with 1 wicket and 8 runs off his 8 overs.

The YMCC A Grade have made the WDCA Grand Final with a 64-run victory against City Colts.

Winning the toss and batting first on Saturday at Stan Hargreaves Oval in Yarrawonga; the Lakers lost Clarke with the score on just 11.  
Matt Casey joined opener Ben Welsh and share a 46-run partnership before Casey was dismissed for 22 runs.
Lawrence then joined Welsh adding 29 runs before Lawrence was dismissed for 10.
Welsh was cruising towards a well-deserved fifty but fell for 46 to be the Lakers top scorer for the innings.
Then Knight came to the wicket at 4 for 99 but fell for 21 runs and the score was 5 for 114.
Brock McCabe came and went for 4; bringing Corey McIntosh to the crease to join Jim Irvine.
A valuable 24 run partnership moved the Lakers to 143; but unfortunately, the Lakers lost 4 for 0 to be all out for 143 from 61 overs.
With 10 overs left in day one, the Colts batsman scored 20 runs without losing a wicket.
Day two had Lakers needing to take 10 wickets before the City Colts scored another 124 runs to secure a victory.
City Colts were able to take their score to 34 from 22 overs before Captain Matt Knight introduced himself into the bowling attack and struck first ball dismissing Willett for 16.
Then in his next over, Knight dismissed fellow opener Norris for the addition of just a solitary run.
Colts batsman Creed and Looker added 22 runs in six overs before Creed was dismissed by John Ferguson and at 67, Looker was dismissed LBW to Jim Irvine.
At 4 for 67, the game was in the balance with Colts Captain Kent Braden joined by Mitch Howe.
Braden after scoring 5 runs looked to hit spinner Ferguson down the ground but was stumped by Wicketkeeper of the Year Reid Clarke to have Colts 5 for 67.
Hard hitter Adam Crossman hit a cracking 4 but fell to a boundary catch to Brock McCabe off Ferguson’s bowling.
At 6 for 74, the Lakers looked to grind the game out. In the next seven overs, the Lakers conceded just 5 runs and took the final four wickets for 0 runs to see Colts all out for 79.
They grabbed 7 for 12 to reach a Grand Final clash with Beechworth next Saturday and Sunday at the Wangaratta Showgrounds.
Ferguson finished with 3 for 8 off 7 overs; Knight 2 for 16 off 4 overs; Irvine 2 for 32 off 15 overs; Brock McCabe 1 for 1 off 2.1 overs; McIntosh 1 for 8 off 8 overs; Doyle 0 for 5 off 4 overs; McMillan 0 for 4 off 5 overs.
