CWA update

CWA President Jennie Hammon welcomed members to the first 2018 meeting in early February and especially welcomed Anne Peters back and visitor Kathy Barnes.

Birthday sprays from Blooms were presented to ladies whose birthdays were in January and February.
Preparations were made for the annual International Women’s Day (IWD) Breakfast which has since been held on Saturday, March 3.
IWD is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past present and future.
On Feb 15 eight members attended the CWA of Vic Moira AGM and Conference which was held at Boorhaman Hall with outgoing Group President Gwen Younger in the chair.
Boorhaman Branch President warmly welcomed everyone to the conference.
Lynette Harris OAM, State President officially opened the AGM and Group Conference and wished everyone a successful day.
Various reports were heard.
Then election of new office bearers was held.
New Group President for 2018 is Jenny Briggs of Benalla Branch.
International Affairs the Thoona Branch.
Creative Arts Exhibition and Craft days, Swanpool Branch.
Group Secretary, Dawn Robertson of Yarrawonga/Border Branch.
Treasurer, Charlee Campbell of Benalla Branch.
Branch 2 Minute Secretary’s reports were then presented.
Guest speaker Lynette Harris OAM, State President shared some of her personal and CWA life history to date and explained some important upcoming events to delegates and members such as, the 90th Birthday of CWA of Vic this year.  The official celebration will begin with a Garden Party in April.  
A special rose will be available soon.  A new Biscuit Book and a limited edition special white mug are some of the celebrations to mark the occasion.
CWA of Vic will host the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW), World Conference in April 2019.  Planning for this has been underway for some time.
Venue is Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (commonly called Jeff’s Shed). Approximately 75 countries will be represented.
Individual member ACWW members and CWA members whose Branch is a financial member of ACWW member are eligible to attend.
Representatives of other organisations wishing to attend can do so by contacting CWA of Vic and paying registration fee.
Revamping of the State Offices and Bed and Breakfast business is ongoing with office desks completed.
Ensuites are being added to 2 B&B bedrooms.  
A new kitchen floor is being done in 2018 plus painting.
At conclusion of Lynette’s address lunch was enjoyed.
During the afternoon the February General meeting was held with reports, discussions, Branch news and afternoon tea concluded the day.
The next Group event is the Creative Arts Exhibition being held in Benalla at the John Cooper Hall, Uniting Church, Carrier Street, Benalla (opposite Coles).
This is a mini version of the State Creative Arts Exhibition held in Yarrawonga in 2016.

March Branch craft at Yarrawonga/Border CWA Hall is Macramé.
This craft is currently very popular.
