The Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort will be represented in Australia’s largest and most successful pro-amateur team’s event, the Holden Scramble, on the Sunshine Coast in May.

After qualifying at their local event earlier in the year, the team led by PGA Trainee Frazer Droop, together with Georgia Maklan, Wendy Hennessy, Sam Churchin and Kath Peters held off a host of teams to grab the one spot available at the Regional Final, played at Southern Golf Club.
The team will now compete for the national title at the Holden Scramble Championship Final to be held at Twin Waters Golf Club from 18 – 21 May.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club team came second in last year’s Regional Final by only 0.3 of a shot.
“We are thrilled to be qualifying through to the Championship Final this year after coming so close last year,” said Wendy Hennesy.
“We are also bringing our scorer, Julie, to the Championship Final with us. Julie was our scorer last year and we consider her part of the team.”
The Yarrawonga Mulwala team featured a mother-daughter duo, Wendy Hennesy and Georgia Macklan.
“It’s great to play with my daughter, we’re best friends,” said Hennesy.
“I’m happy we have made it through to the Championship Final as it may spark a greater interest in Georgia to take golf further.”
Sam Churchin also won Nearest to Pin (NTP) and Longest Drive competition throughout the final.
Holden Scramble Championship Final teams will be treated to four days of golf played in full tournament conditions, three social functions and the chance to rub shoulders with greats of the game such as two time PGA Tour winner, Craig Parry on the final day’s play.
“The PGA of Australia is excited to host the qualifying teams at the Holden Scramble Championship Final. The Twin Waters Golf Club and Novotel Twin Waters Resort have become synonymous with this event and we know that all participants will have a memorable week,” said Michael Chard, National Events Manager at the PGA of Australia.
“All teams have won just by getting to the final, having beaten roughly 600 teams at the local level and 60 teams at the Regional Final. There will be six women’s teams join 24 mixed teams at this year’s action packed Final. Winning the Final will just be icing on the cake to what is already an unbelievable achievement.”
