2021 was no different with seven ‘Shavers’ taking part in the event and the school community putting on a ‘Crazy Hair Day’.
The team was made up of members from Year 5, 6, 7, 8 and two staff. Slater Goudie had made the decision early in 2020 to take part and had fundraised over $3000.
He was well supported by fellow Year 5 student Anna Kaine, who also raised over $1000.
Return shavers from 2020, Kade Michael and Ceijay Amies, did a fantastic job in beating their fundraising goals from the previous year.
Keeley Bryan completed the student team by getting the ‘big chop’, cutting off her long blonde hair to be donated to the sustainability salon.
Rachael Guppy, Student Engagement and Wellbeing leader at the 5-8 campus, was the first staff member to lose her hair.
Her plaits from the event will also be donated to creating wigs.
A newcomer to the College, Tony Humphries, Science and Maths teacher also allowed his Year 11 class to tackle his locks, creating a look of their choice.
The World’s Greatest Shave has a significant meaning to the Yarrawonga College P-12 and local community.
The school is very proud of the efforts in raising close to $8,500.
Donations can also still be made by searching for ‘Ycp12’ team on the World’s Greatest Shave website.
