Local champion shooter James Willett will now aim for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 after finishing sixth at last week’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games double trap event final.

After shooting a total of 134 from a possible 150 to qualify fourth for the men’s double trap final, James unfortunately missed a couple of shots in the first round of the final to be eliminated first with a score of 23.
“The 2018 Commonwealth Games was a great experience,” James said.
“I would just like to thank everyone who came out to the range and watched me compete, the home crowd was unbelievable and I really appreciate all of the support as I was cheered through the rounds.
“Unfortunately it wasn’t my day and I finish my double trap career here at the games but congratulations to all the medalists in the event.
“I now look forward to focusing on ISSF trap as I work towards the Tokyo Olympic Games.
“Thank you to the support from all of my friends and family who have been great support to get me here and to all of my sponsors.”
James will now head home for a little downtime before he starts preparing himself for his new discipline of trap shooting.
