Mulwala Water Ski Club’s Cathy Randell and CEO Peter Duncan, Mulwala Post Office’s Dot Hicks, Corowa Business Chamber’s Mary Hetherington and Kay Fredericks, and Dana McErvale from Hicks Butchery encourage businesses to enter the 10-category award event.

Nominations for this year’s Federation Council area’s business awards have been extended, to Friday, May 25.

“We’ve had some enthusiastic businesses wanting to apply, to be part of this fabulous event. They don’t want to miss out,” Corowa Business Chamber Secretary Kay Fredericks explained to the Free Press.
Chamber President Mary Hetherington added: “We are committed to giving every business every opportunity to apply.”
Corowa Business Chamber committee members say it is an easy nomination form to complete, with about half a dozen questions each requiring about 100 words.
Three independent judges - not from this region - will decide the winners of the 10 categories after perusing their nomination forms.
“I congratulate Mary and Kay, and all other committee persons involved on their initiative in organising these awards,” Mulwala Water Ski Club CEO Peter Duncan said.
“Businesses should take advantage of the opportunity to nominate themselves, particularly being in a tourist town and shire. They should get behind it. It’s a great idea.”
Dana McErvale from Hicks Butchery said it is a good opportunity for businesses to showcase themselves in front of the whole shire.
“I encourage businesses to join in with hopefully many other businesses to make for a spectacular gala dinner and presentation awards night (Friday, July 20 at Corowa Whiskey and Chocolate Factory).”
Mulwala Post Office’s Dot Hicks lent her support. “It’s really good you get recognition for what you put into the business, as well as being part of the community,” she said.
The 10 business categories are:
* Outstanding Young Employee (aged 18-35)
* Outstanding Young Entrepreneur (aged 18-35)
* Outstanding Business Leader (aged 36+)
* Excellence in Social Enterprise
* Excellence in Innovation
* Excellence in Sustainability
* Excellence in Small Business (1-10 employees)
* Excellence in Small Business (11-20 employees)
* Excellence in Business (20+ employees)
* Excellence in Export.
There’s plenty to be gained by entering - promoting your business and the winning applicants having the chance to enter the NSW Business Chamber Regional State Awards. (For more information see, www.corowachamber.net).
