Tom Cruise has sent a message of support to fellow A-lister George Clooney after learning the Hollywood star had been in a motorcycle crash in Italy.

Clooney, 57, was taken to hospital after his scooter collided with a car at an intersection in Sardinia on Tuesday morning and is expected to make a full recovery.

Cruise learned of the crash while attending the Paris world premiere of his latest film Mission: Impossible - Fallout and quickly passed on his best wishes, playfully telling the former ER star to "be careful man!"

"He's great on a motorcycle and I hope he's OK. I really, George, I didn't know until I was here but I hope you're okay buddy," Cruise said.
