Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf ClubMens 9 Holers
Tuesday saw all battling for the Pot Round and it was Jim Old and Bill Rapkins who prevailed against some tough tight competition to win the monthly prize.
On the Blue it was Jim Old who defeated John Taylor on a countback with 29 strokes each, with John left rueing his missed 12-inch putt on the 8th after he got swooped by a flock of magpies; both finishing one stroke ahead of Joe Cilia and two ahead of Frank Mundy, Glen Perkins and Ray Minette. On the Red it was Bill Rapkins who putted like a tour professional to finish 3 strokes clear of Brendan O’Farrell and 4 strokes ahead of Bill Gorman, Michael Hope and Allan Foord with 5 others finishing one stroke behind on 39.
Thursday it was back to Stableford and on the Blue despite the blustery conditions it was again a very tight competition with Joe Kapp winning a 4 way tie on countback from Doug Ringholt, Graeme Duffy and John Groves- all finishing on 20 points.
Bill Hidson and Phil Latham came in one point behind them. A big shout out to 97-year young Stan Clarke who came in with 17 points to win a ball. Well done Stan - We are proud to have you as a Nine Holer and you are an inspiration to all.
On the Red it was a lot harder with Joe Scibberas taking the honours with a very fine 19 points in difficult windy conditions, one ahead of Bob Fiddes with 18, and Ted Latta, Norm Knott, Ian Barton and Dave Murray all coming in on 16 points.
It is good to see numbers swelling and we welcome 2 new members - Ian Jones and Andrew Brown.
