“Yes, it’s our first time. We put our hand up to host the event. We’re very pleased to be able to host the event for our town Mulwala,” Mulwala Water Ski Club CEO Peter Duncan told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“There have been negotiations with Federation Council and Mulwala Progress Association, and we feel everything is in place for a great family day, with rides for the kids and plenty of entertainment.”
The ski club has its own stage for the formalities of Australia Day, with speeches and awards. Plenty of shade exists for Federation Council residents and visitors.
“We expect the formal part of the morning will finish about midday then the gates will be open to other members of the public, for $5 admission, coming for entertainment which includes zoo animals, and daredevil motorbike acts. It will be a big day.”
Australia Day Ambassador for Federation Council is Jeremy Jones AM. The Sydney resident is a senior Australian Jewish leader, building relationships with other religions. Jeremy was the 2016 winner of the NSW Government’s Stepan Kerkyasharian Medal for promoting Community Harmony, the winner of the 2007 Australian Human Rights Medal, is a Member of the Order of Australia (conferred in 2005) and has participated in dialogues and conferences on human rights issues in 30 countries. A fifth-generation Australian, he is a graduate of the University of Sydney, majoring in History and Government.
Residents and visitors are welcome to attend the Mulwala Water Ski Club-hosted Australia Day celebrations, which is a 9.00am for 9.30am start.
