The two-week long 2019 NSW Seniors Festival in February was hailed a spectacular success throughout the Federation Council area by staff and councillors at council’s monthly meeting on March 19.
As reported in the Yarrawonga Chronicle on March 20, over 560 seniors kicked up their heels and helped celebrate the festival by attending the Baby Boomers Bus About.
But an even larger number could attend next year, if the ‘Baby Boomers’ tag was removed according to Cr Gail Law.
Cr Law, who attended various functions, said the seniors had such fun at the many activities and locations. “It was a pleasure to be there,” she said.
“In view of what some seniors said to me about the reference to ‘Baby Boomers’ however, I think there should be a name change next year.”
Some entertainment was aimed at a younger group of people, with some music played relating to a much younger generation according to Cr Law.
“Some seniors and myself were confused with some of the music. The ‘Baby Boomers’ is about 55-years-and-over people,” she said.
