Event Chairman Andrew Brown said the Yarrawonga Town Hall rang to the sounds of choirs singing superbly after their extensive day- time masterclasses.
“The festival was a joy filled event from the opening Friday evening until the final moment of Sunday’s concert,” he said.
This year’s event featured a fantastic festival line-up which attracted some of the country’s best choirs with performances from the Young Voices of Melbourne with conductor Mark O’Leary,The Devine Divas of Sunbury with guest conductor and renowned Musical Director Adam Przewlocki along with vocal jazz quartet The Velvetones with guest conductor Claire Patti.
“The featured choirs were inspirational and the attending choirs sang their hearts out, especially in the massed choir pieces. Just the beautiful sounds of heartfelt singing,” Mr Brown said.
“Even the election didn’t dampen the numbers for the Saturday evening concert. No, the hall was alive with an eager audience ready to be inspired and they were not let down.
“Each concert was a unique event that left the audience clapping for more.
“As Adam Przelocki (Musical Director of ‘The Divine Divas of Sunbury’) announced from stage at the end of both concerts; “This is the best choir festival I have ever attended!”.
“Such high praise from such an experienced conductor,” Mr Brown said.
A host of local choirs from around the region also featured in the festival. The smallest choir to represent their area was the Oaklands Central School featuring one teacher and two students.
Other choirs came from Echuca/Deniliquin, Nathalia, Wangaratta and of course Yarrawonga’s very own ‘Lakeside Voices’.
As for 2020, Mr Brown said; ”watch this space for next year’s event…it will be one not to be missed”.
The Festival of 1000 Voices committee thanked the people of Yarrawonga, for embracing this festival.
“We would also like to thank our major sponsors ClubMulwala and Across the Arts for their on-going support,” Mr Brown added.
