The evening commenced at 6:30pm at the Lions Clubrooms at the Yarrawonga Showgrounds.
Outgoing president Denis Griffiths extended thanks to all members for their continued efforts in supporting him and the community of Yarrawonga and Mulwala.
“The club was lucky enough to receive a grant from Australian Lions Foundation and DSS Volunteer Grant 2018 to assist with the construction of a new shed,” he said.
This will enable the club to store equipment and utilise existing space more effectively.
Members have been involved with many events during the past 12 months among them the Katamatite Lions Big Day Out, Bundalong Taverns fundraiser, Need for Feed, NSSR Rod Run, gala ball and dance weekend and Lions own weekly Target bbq.
These activities have enabled the Lions Club to contribute funds back into the community.
Denis wished John Weinert, the incoming President and his team a successful year and encouraged everyone to get behind him and the upcoming convention which will be held in October.
2019 -2020 President is John Weinert who was installed into office by Past District Governor Les Harrison.
His executive officers are Diana Rankin as Secretary and Ollie Tufvesson as Treasurer, with Don McPhee, Ken George and Debbie Van Corler installed as Vice Presidents.
“As do most presidents I intend to make some changes, starting with returning all our meetings back to our Den,” Incoming president John said.
“They will be dinner meetings that are self-catered, so I’m looking for volunteers to have a go. I want to increase our social, fun times, visit other clubs and streamline our business reports.
“I also believe it’s time to look at a new project that we can hang our badge on, so if anyone has a dream, come and see me.
“I want to get the balance of work and pleasure right so we all have fun doing both. This is your year as much as it is mine, so lots of input and new ideas please.”
