Rainstick making, facepainting, dreamtime story and dance were activities throughout the Federation Council area last week, as part of NAIDOC Week.
A cultural workshop was conducted for 14 Mulwala Public School students at Mulwala Library last Friday, which followed workshops in Urana and at the Howlong and Corowa Libraries.
“We just want to share our culture,” local Iris Troutman from Cheeky Murri Ways told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“The reception here was good from the students. They’re good listeners and enjoyed themselves.”
The annual NAIDOC Week ran from July 7 to 14 and celebrated the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Mulwala Library’s Chris Boyd said the students enjoyed the various activities in the spacious library.
“I’m so thrilled to see the space filled with all the students learning about our First Nations people,” she said.
