Lots of children and parents were at the water slide last Saturday morning to show their support to have their wishes met.
But those supporting the rejuvenation of the Mulwala Water Slide have to vote for such action online at mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au or at their local Service NSW Centre at the Corowa Civic Centre (Federation Council offices).
For more information on how to vote, visit nsw.gov.au/mycommunityproject or please refer to the Fact sheet for voters.
‘My Community Project’ is made possible by the NSW Generation Fund of the State Government. The new initiative is all about local ideas, local projects and local decisions.
Anybody from the community can submit his or her idea and seek funding from the NSW Government where it is understood some $260,000 is available in the Albury electorate for projects identified by the public and agreed to by the government.
“Mulwala Progress Association has backed us to get the water slide up and running,” chief organizer for last Saturday’s showing of support, Beth Robinson told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“We need all the supporters who want to see the water slide back in action to get online and support the cause.”
For decades, the water slide proved so popular with so many locals and visitors.
“While Phil Smith had the slide, the Mulwala Public School would always go there on the last day of school for free rides. It was definitely the highlight of the year!” Beth said.
But last summer was the second consecutive summer without the water slide. Mulwala-based Councillor Bronwyn Thomas is a strong supporter of having the water slide back in action.
Whilst acknowledging certain structural issues to be addressed with the water slide, she was so impressed with the gathering of people last Saturday.
“Here we have a cold winter’s morning and all these people show up in support of the water slide being back in action,” Cr Thomas said.
“It’s an amazing show of support and I also encourage residents to get behind the ‘My Community Project’ by going online to show their support for this project.”
The application for the ‘Mulwala Waterslide Rejuvenation’ has been acknowledged. It will be included in the public vote in your electorate.
Voting opened on Monday, July 15 and closes on August 15.
