Green and Tonegato were two of Australia's stars in their triumphant 2016 Olympic campaign, with both crossing for a try in the 24-17 final win against New Zealand.
Green made her debut for Australia in 2012 and Tonegato's first appearance in the team was the following year.
Tonegato is one of the most prolific try scorers in the sevens World Series, currently sitting ninth overall.
"Ellia and Emma are incredibly exciting players and further shapes our squad for the next two years,'" head coach John Manenti said.
"We have seen what amazing players they are with ball in hand, but defensively they are fearless in the contact zone, with both players willing to put their bodies on the line for their teammates.
"Their work ethic and commitment to the team knows no bounds and we are really excited to have both players in the gold jersey until 2020."
The team heads to Colorado for round one of the World Series next weekend.
