The Yarrawonga Mulwala C Grade has fallen to the Wangaratta Magpies by 49 runs.

The Lakers won the toss and elected to bowl and bowled well for periods of the game; however, a third wicket partnership allowed the Magpies to 3 for 101.

Wickets fell at intervals and the Magpies ended their innings at 9 for 149 from their 36 overs. Rod Peters took 2 for 24 off 8 overs, Tom Irvine 2 for 38 off 8 overs, Jason Sharp 1 for 29 off 8 overs, Oscar Willis 1 for 17 off 4 overs and Austin Willett 1 for 14 off 2 overs.

The Lakers batting began with Bozzola, McClarty and Peters falling before the score got to 33. A solid partnership between Tom Irvine and Rod Willett steadied the innings before Irvine fell for 31. The 27-run partnership was the highest of the innings; with Rod Willett finishing with 28.

The Lakers crumbled to be all out for 100 and lost the contest by 49 runs.

A positive for the Lakers were the performances of Oscar Willis and Jett Peters and Austin Willett. All play in the juniors for the Lakers and are taking up the challenge of playing senior cricket and performing well.

Next round sees the Lakers take on Delatite at Victoria Park 2 in Round 13 action.
