Fred’s skiing triumph

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

Local Bundalong resident Fred Douglas has recently returned to Bundalong after successfully skiing for Australia in the Over 65’s slalom competition.

Although not making the final he smashed his own personal best by 5 bouys – with of a previous score of 3 bouys on 14metre line and took this to a new height of 2 bouys on the 13-metre line.

Fred’s preparation skiing through the Australian winter with his training buddy and coach David Ryan clearly paid off with this achievement.

There were 180 competitors from 24 countries and Australia finished 6th.

The other members of the team also did really well with another local to the region, Paul Maloney from Nathalia competed in all three events after many years of not skiing.

Earlier this year Fred, member of the Mulwala Water Ski Club, Chairman of Tournament Water Ski Victoria and Board Member of Yarrawonga Health was also selected to represent Australia in the World +35’s Waterski Championships in Santiago Chile in December.
