Barefoot bowls charity challenge

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort Bowls Club will be holding their Annual Barefoot Bowls promotion for bowlers, non-bowlers or anyone wanting to try the great game of bowls.

Prize money of $1,200 can be won by the teams registered on behalf of their nominated local charitable groups or organisations.

Last year Yarrawonga SES, Friends in Common, Yarrawonga Legacy Group, PALS and Yarrawonga Wildlife Shelter were all worthy recipients.

Open to people of all ages, this is a wonderful chance for teams from local charities, clubs, schools, organisations, businesses or just groups of friends to learn and enjoy the great sport of lawn bowls.

Just make up a team of four to join in for six consecutive Tuesday nights (7pm-9pm) starting Tuesday, January 29.

Come in flat soled shoes or barefoot and the Bowling Club will supply bowls, instructions and other requirements at no cost.

Multiple players can be registered per team with four players nominated to play each week.

Registration and instruction night is from 7pm Tuesday, January 22 followed by five weeks of round robin competition and instruction, ending with the finals and presentation night on Tuesday, February 26.

In recent years an annual average of 120 people from all walks of life have learnt the rudiments of lawn bowling or extended their existing knowledge of this wonderful relaxing sport.

Whether you wish to try out bowls as an activity or sport or simply join in for some fun and socialising, enter your team now and come along to the registration night and grab some early free coaching.

What a great way to spend some summer evenings while adding to some worthwhile fundraising for the local town.

As numbers are restricted due to limitation of greens available, it’ll be ‘first in-best dressed’.

If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to call Peter Lidgerwood 0409 759 579 or Kerry Kinnane 0419 313 683.

Get your team ready now.
